Orsoni Venezia 1888 brings the GAeM Prize to Venice as well

From October 18, 2025, to January 18, 2026, the 9th Edition of the Ravenna Biennial of Contemporary Mosaic returns — an internationally recognized event in the world of mosaic art. Promoted by the Municipality of Ravenna – Department of Culture and Mosaics – and coordinated by the MAR, the City Art Museum of Ravenna, the Biennial is under the artistic direction of Daniele Torcellini.

The title chosen for this edition, “Shared Place”, invites reflection on mosaic as a language capable of creating connections — between materials, people, and spaces. In a world fractured by conflict and distance, mosaic becomes a tangible gesture of dialogue, relationship, and presence.

The Biennial embraces the entire city — museums, monuments, studios, galleries, cloisters, and temporary spaces — showcasing the mosaic’s many expressions: contemporary art, fine craftsmanship, applied arts, restoration, research, and enterprise.

Among the institutions contributing to the Biennial’s realization, Orsoni Venezia 1888 is proud to support the GAeM Prize – Young Artists and Mosaic, dedicated to emerging talents under 35 selected through a national competition. The finalist works will be featured in a group exhibition at the Manica Lunga of the Classense Library, curated by Sabina Ghinassi and Antonio Rocca.

Established in collaboration with Fondazione Cingoli and GA/ER – Young Artists Emilia-Romagna, the prize offers space to new generations exploring mosaic through both innovative and experimental approaches, while remaining grounded in traditional techniques and materials.

Among the key initiatives are two artist residencies activated in Ravenna: Lisa Martignoni, in collaboration with Dimensione Mosaico and curated by Viviana Piraneo; and Dalia Tvardauskaite, in collaboration with Pixel Mosaici and curated by Giorgio Vernuccio.

2026 News: Winning Works to Be Exhibited in Venice

As a confirmation of Orsoni Venezia 1888’s ongoing commitment to promoting contemporary mosaic art, Spring 2026 will mark the first-ever presentation in Venice of the winning works from the two categories of the GAeM Prize, along with a curated selection of finalist pieces.

This exhibition will give international visibility to young artists and create a symbolic bridge between the historic capital of Venetian mosaic and the city that preserves both its Byzantine heritage and its most dynamic contemporary expressions.

A unique opportunity to share the spirit of mosaic as a living, ever-evolving art form — capable of transcending time, geography, and generations.
