The apostolic journey of Pope Francis to Romania, to Bucharest began on May 31st 2019. For the occasion, Pope Francis was welcomed by the highest civil authorities and met the Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church.

Accompanied by the Patriarch Daniel, he visited the Orthodox Cathedral of the Salvation of the People. The cathedral inaugurated at the end of 2018 is the highest orthodox cathedral in the world, an impressive work, whose project will end in 2024.

The Pope arrived on the steps of the Orthodox Cathedral had the opportunity to observe the majesty of the structure and the work still in progress. Once inside it was enchanted, in particular, by the size of the iconostasis, which separates the presbytery, realised by Orsoni Venezia 1888 mosaic.

Particular important moment of the day was when the Patriarch Daniel donated the icon realised by Orsoni Venezia 1888 mosaics to Pope Francis.

Artistic work of great value, created by the master mosaicist, Daniel Codrescu, representing the iconography of the apostle Andrew.

We are very pleased to have taken part in this emotionally and unique event.

It is a great pleasure for us to see how our hand-cut mosaic become a precious art work.
