A glistening example of Italian design and artisanal excellence at the heart of Islamic architecture.
The city of Kazan, in the Russian Republic of Tatarstan, is home to the Irek Mosque. The project was completed in 2018 in collaboration with Margraf Industria Marmi Vicentini.

The internal cladding of the building, designed by architect Evgeny Bolotny, is made with curved and inlaid Macedonian Bianco Sivec marble, “the whitest marble in the world”.
The structure of the Mosque – composed of a dome and two minarets – is modelled on traditional Islamic religious architecture canons.

The exterior of the dome and the minaret tips are decorated with blue and turquoise tonalities of Orsoni smalti inspired by the colors of the sky and the sea.
A custom-made floral design of blue, green and white hues of our precious smalti embellishes the interior of the dome.
